Research and Education Special Interest Group

Objectives of the Research and Education SIG -

  • Facilitate the creation of research collaborations between Institutions / groups by raising awareness of the research activities and expertise within the medical physics and bioengineering community in Ireland;
  • Support and encouragement of members early in their research career, and undergraduates interested in entering this field;
  • Provide advice on sources of grant funding to enable research;
  • Organisation of educational workshops and talks on hot topics in medical physics and bioengineering;
  • Creation of a research information resource on the IAPM website.

There will be a seminar on Grant Writing, primarily aimed at anyone thinking of applying for this years’ Young Investigator Grant scheme. This will take place in the Radiology Seminar Room, Diagnostic Imaging Department, St. James’s Hospital, at 3pm on the 15th of March. Hope to see some of you there

The Research & Education Special Interest Group is pleased to open the call for applications for the 2010 APSM Young Investigator Grant scheme.  As in previous years, €1,500 will be awarded to one individual on the basis of competitive peer review to support a research project in any area relating to medical physics and bioengineering.
